If disease treatment becomes necessary, consult a specialist before adding any chemicals to the tank.

Diet consists primarily of meaty foods. In the wild, A. albifrons feeds on insect larvae, small crustaceans, and worms. In captivity, offer frozen bloodworms, brine shrimp, mysis shrimp, and high-quality sinking pellets. Live blackworms are an excellent conditioning food. Feed after lights-out when the fish is naturally active and hunting. A well-fed Black Ghost Knife Fish develops a robust, slightly rounded body profile — if the fish appears pinched behind the head, increase feeding frequency.
