A minimum 30-gallon aquarium with efficient filtration, stable temperature of 65 to 72 degrees Fahrenheit, and weekly water changes of thirty percent or more. Avoid rough decorations, sharp substrate, and anything that could injure the wen. Bare-bottom tanks or fine sand are strongly preferred.

Diet should be high-quality sinking pellets supplemented with frozen foods, blanched vegetables, and colour-enhancing formulations. Thai Orandas are robust eaters that grow rapidly when well-fed, but overfeeding must be avoided to prevent digestive and buoyancy issues. Feed small portions three to four times daily rather than one or two large meals.
