The Golden Albino Axolotl is a radiant expression of Ambystoma mexicanum that swaps the leucistic morph's pale subtlety for a warm, shimmering gold that catches light like no other axolotl colour form. The body ranges from a rich buttercup yellow to a deeper amber-gold depending on age, diet, and individual genetics, while the eyes glow a distinctive pinkish-red — the hallmark of true albinism. All other husbandry requirements mirror those of the leucistic morph. Cold water between 60 and 68 degrees Fahrenheit is mandatory — there is no flexibility on this point. A 20-gallon long aquarium with fine sand or bare-bottom substrate, gentle filtration, and zero detectable ammonia or nitrite forms the foundation of proper axolotl care. Weekly water changes of twenty to thirty percent keep parameters stable and the animal's skin and gills in peak condition.

Feeding is identical to other axolotl morphs: earthworms as the primary staple, supplemented with quality sinking pellets, frozen bloodworms for younger specimens, and occasional raw shrimp or fish treats. The golden colouration can be influenced by diet — foods rich in carotenoids, such as certain spirulina-enhanced pellets, may deepen the yellow-gold tones over time, though genetics remain the primary driver of colour intensity.
