The Royal Blue Discus occupies a distinguished place in the Discus hierarchy — a strain that bridges the gap between the intense, solid Blue Diamond and the more patterned turquoise varieties. Its coloration is a deep, regal blue with subtle horizontal striations that add depth and visual complexity without overwhelming the base color. The effect is a fish that appears to shift between solid blue and patterned blue depending on lighting angle and mood, making it endlessly fascinating to observe.

This strain traces its lineage to early German and Asian breeding programs that worked to intensify the natural blue iridescence found in wild Discus.
