Neptune Grouper
Cephalopholis igarashiensis
The Neptune Grouper (Cephalopholis igarashiensis) is one of the "holy grail" species of the marine aquarium hobby — a deepwater grouper of extraordinary beauty that commands prices rivalling the most expensive freshwater species. Found at depths of 80–260 metres across the Indo-Pacific, its collection requires specialised deep-diving or submersible techniques and careful decompression during ascent. The result is a fish of breathtaking beauty: vivid orange-pink body overlaid with golden-yellow bands and highlights. This guide covers the species' biology, the challenges of its collection, realistic care requirements, and what to expect from one of the rarest aquarium fish in the world.

Panther Grouper
Cromileptes altivelis
The Panther Grouper (Cromileptes altivelis), also known as the Humpback Grouper or Polka-Dot Grouper, is one of the most distinctive marine fish in the aquarium trade. Its white body covered in bold black spots, combined with an unusual humped head profile, makes it unmistakable. Juveniles are small, inexpensive, and irresistibly cute — which leads many beginners to purchase them without understanding that this fish reaches 70 cm (28 in) and requires a 300+ gallon aquarium. This guide provides a realistic overview of Panther Grouper care for those with the space and commitment to keep one properly.
