Our verdict

Care is identical — both are Scleropages formosus and both demand a 300-gallon system and specialist husbandry. The choice is colour and budget: the crossback golden is the classic prosperity fish; the Super Red is the deepest collector grade. Either way, our concierge team handles CITES paperwork, viewing and insured delivery.

Common questions

Is care different between golden and red arowana?

No — they are colour varieties of the same species, Scleropages formosus. Both need a minimum 300-gallon covered aquarium, immaculate water and a varied carnivore diet. Choose on colour and provenance, not on care.

Which arowana is more valuable, golden or super red?

Grade decides more than colour. Our Golden Arowana is $12,000 and the Super Red $25,000, but exceptional individuals of either line can go far higher — with the platinum morph above both. Provenance paperwork is a big part of the value.

Are Asian arowana legal to own?

Asian arowana are CITES Appendix I listed, so legal ownership depends on your jurisdiction and requires permits plus microchip documentation. We sell only with full CITES paperwork, to buyers in regions where ownership is permitted.
